Simon Care: a mobile app for people with dementia and their caregivers

Overview

Simon Care Management, a company with offices in the United States and the United Kingdom, approached Startup House (SH) at the idea stage. It needed an application that would provide integrated care for people living with dementia and their families.

Challenge

The task was clear yet demanding: deliver a functional MVP focused on the highest-impact features, with an interface tailored to people with dementia. The project required extensive user testing conducted with both patients and caregivers, as well as effective coordination among multiple stakeholders.

Technology stack

• Language: TypeScript
• Frontend: React Native, MobX, integrations including Google Places Autocomplete and real-time location tracking
• Backend: REST API in Node.js, hosted on Google Cloud Platform

The project comprised 8 sprints with user testing sessions and 2 refined prototypes.

Results

The outcome of the process was a mobile app MVP ready for testing. The client's team distributed the beta to testers via TestFlight (an iOS app beta testing platform), and Amplitude (a product analytics tool) enabled the collection and analysis of user behavior data.
